Which mistakes happen especially at the beginning of the conversation?
Even if it sounds trivial: With a wet handshake and a closed sitting posture, applicants quickly leave a negative impression. Avoiding eye contact and taking unsolicited seats is also not a good idea. A confident handshake and a friendly appearance lay the foundation for a successful interview.
What should I look out for when choosing my clothes?
In principle, the outfit should neither be too over-the-top nor too casual. The choice of clothing also depends on the position. An applicant who wants to work in marketing does not have to come to the interview in a suit.
Does it make a difference whether I have the interview with HR, the head of department or the CEO?
Basically, it shouldn’t make any difference whether you’re talking to a human resources manager or the CEO. The HR manager has more experience with interviews, so it’s less bad if mistakes happen. However, no mistakes should happen before a CEO – especially bosses who rarely hold interviews often judge too quickly and subjectively.
What are the worst no-go’s in an interview?
